Paolo Manalo, Eric Rice, Matt on WordPress, MYMP, Putang Ina Mo dot Com
OMG - We’re back again. I’m really having trouble with this sound balance thing — now Kid Flash X is louder (and with feedback apparently) than Manong Guard. Oh well. We do a sound check everytime, but it’s just not happening. Anyway, the latest podcast is here! - Live from USA.PH - Episode XIII
Synopsis:
- Hepa Contessa: Tezan Restaurant
- Pinoy Blog Feature: Paolo Manalo, Anil Dash
- Unproudly Filipino: MYMP Part II: Kahon
- Kid’s Flash Topic: Webzine 2005, Eric Rice, Matt on WordPress, Rickey on WordPress
- This Week’s Love Hate Relationship With Technology: iPod Mini, putanginamo.com
- There is no Blog Therapy this week

Sorry again for the audio quality. I’m trying my best.
Duration: 33 minutes
Still the longest podcast ever!

Okay, so there’s an attendance check now?
Hi, KFX! Hi, MG!
The feedback is not that bad, maybe just a little distracting sometimes. Reminds me of a long-distance phone call with v.o.i.p. that needs tweaking. Could also be as simple as being due to MG’s speaker output feeding back into his mic (his fault again!).
Isn’t k-hon pronounced “ka-hon”, as in box? Tsong, letrang “ka” yan, hindi sosyal na “kei/kay”.

I’m always to blame… sigh

palagay nyo hindi nila alam yan?
tantanan nyo nga si rickey!
jeez looooeez
i should start printing pics too. our computer crashed when
we shipped the drive from guam. now i have
no photos of my ‘island-stylin’ life back there.
(nagbigay daw bang assignment?)

MG, since you know Karlo Sampson - do you also know Lionel Valdellon? Chica and Dre listen to this last podcast. No comment yet from them.
KFX, are you recording directly to 1 track? Why not have 3 tracks? One for you, one for MG, and one for your soundboard?
October 3rd, 2005 at 4:01 pm
Yeah, one track its pathetic. I think the sound level from Skype is what’s unpredictable.

Obet,
Listened to your “horsecast” last night on my way home and I have to say this: I will be playing back Chica’s 2-minute long oooohing and aaahhing for a long time to come. Hehehe. I sure wish you had them listen to one of our better shows. The last one was pretty weak in terms of both content and sound quality. I think we’re trying to get back into the groove.
To everyone else,
I got to do some thinking and I don’t think the echo is my fault after all. I wasn’t running the cast on some room speakers. Instead it went straight into my ears. So, unless the sound traveled around in my head, went out my mouth and into the mic, then you guys should be blaming KFX. Hehehe.

Ha ha ha! Podcast showbiz. Echoes, feedback, and other issues, ’tis better to be talked about than not at all?
So I checked with a number of people who are into the local music scence regarding the K-hon issue. The most popular brand is named K-hon, pronounced “kay/kei hon”. Latin versions are called “cajon” (as in Kastila, ha). Pinoy natives of music simply call it “kahon” (layman’s terms).
Yeah James, that sosy “Arrr” sound is so ma-arrrte nga. Kainis minsan. He he. Assignment ni MG for Unproudly Filipino: those pa-sosyal and ma-arrrrrte vocal affectations.
Note to self: (1) backup important files, photos, etc. onto cd! (2) “chick”-out the “2-minute ooohing and aaahing”…

Alam niyo guys, I sure wish I can talk about the “RRR” thing but I can’t do that. I don’t have the moral authority on that one. Thing is… *sob*…. I suffer from the “R” defect. My R’s come out as W’s or V’s. And it used to make my Jeepney rides hell!
I’d have to say “Sa tabi lang po!” instead of an incomprehensible “Mama! Pawa!”. Sigh. The pain!

KFX, i don’t mind the echoes - a little reverb is okay. volume is still honestly a bit low (meaning i have to crank my volume up near max in a silent office environment, while my PSP games only need a little over half in the same place). i agree though, it would be nice to try to record your conversations using two different audio tracks. you think you could record from two different sources on your Mac? (that’s one track recording your mic input, and the other recording your audio output - technically that’s possible, but my unfamiliarity with Macs hinders me from making a better explanation).
MG, i’ll find you someplace to get a cheap PSP - but don’t expect me to fund you for one. heheh.

do you have a double ender set-up in using Skype? (both of you are recording and combine it afterwards?)
October 7th, 2005 at 5:07 pm
I do all the recording on my end of Skype. I have another program recording my mic and Skype.
