I thought “basang sisiw” is only used when you want to describe one’s appearance (wet look gone bad). MG provided more definition. Thanks for that–new knowledge. =)

Prof, I think the term came from the movie “Mga Basang Sisiw” (1980s?) with Julie Vega etc. Term is synonymous to “Mga Batang Yagit.” So you’re so poor you don’t have a decent roof over your head so when it rains… voila.
