    1st but I don’t care.

KFX, you upgrading to the latest Wordpress 2.02 version?

  2. E.J. Says:

I bought a Mr. Potato Head “Darth Tater” two months ago and named it Eduardo Potato. It’s been quite an inner conflict to keep it in its sealed box so far.

…and the meek geeks will inherit the earth!

  13. Manong Guard Says:

Spekking of pronounciation, Chica would pronounce it “Slam Book” probably by the way. Right Dre?

Anyway, seems like we are all of the same cut. Anime/Cartoons/Comic Books, Video Games, Podcasts, and the color Blue. If there are still dudes out there reading this particular thread, jump in and fill-out your own SLAM BOOK entry.

EJ, I was thinking of getting a Darth Tater and that Potato Head stormtrooper too. Figured I had too many hobbies and left the store carrying a tin can of MEGA BLOX Dragons. Hehehe.

  14. Obet Says:

Slam book is right. I believe the last time I filled one out was in the 5th grade. I’m not really in to Anime. I can’t invest the time to watch 26 eps but I do like Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Ninja Scroll, and Samurai X - the movies. I like video games but no time to play. I don’t like the color blue. I’m all about black.

  15. jhamie Says:

    concert and street photography
scouting for great books under P100
    movie marathons at home

  16. Mishi Says:

Obet: you’re not supposed to watch 26 eps in a row XP Although I’ve done that before back then when I wasn’t working yet.

    jhamie: Why sbarro?

Halo 1 (on a Mac and I can’t stand xBox controls)

Favorite Color: For now it’s blue, in all it’s hues, from the masculine/corporate Navy blue to the somewhat femine and calming Sky blue.

  19. rick Says:

A friend who collects Anime and SciFi stuff just got me into Firefly. He suggested Serenity, loved it. Bought the DVd and I don’t buy DVD’s, it’s my first one. Rented Firefly the series and I probably will buy that set too. Never seen a Buffy or Angel show but this Joss Whedon stuff I’m a fan of. Too bad the show was cancelled.

Oopps Mishi didn’t mean to bite your color choice, just read your response.

  20. E.J. Says:

    Manong Guard,

Where/At what store did you see the Spud Trooper for sale? I might get it to keep my Darth Tater company.

  21. Mishi Says:

rick.. huh? we both like all shades of blue XP and baby blue is feminine XP you still play halo 1 on .. xbc or gamespy or xlink? heh.. i wish it was on xbl.. the xbox controllers were easy for me to get used to XP try again? so we can party up on xbl hehe..

  22. rick Says:

    Gamespy.
A friend had a game going with his other freelancer friends in the afternoon and he convinced me to pony up the $25 bucks to join them. We usually play in the afternoons. We’re all freelancers working from home so it’s not hard to schedule.
I’ve always been a computer, PS2 gamer. Those damned triggers on the xb controllers confuse me. I’m officially old, unwilling to learn something new:)

  23. Manong Guard Says:

    rick,

Aren’t we all. Old is as old does.

    EJ,

I’m not quite sure where I found that. I think in Sta Lucia…or was it Rockwell Mall. My bro has a Spud Trooper. But then again he has lots of weird shit including some very hard to find 16″ Nightmare before Xmas figures. Once he even thought about buying a “Chucky” and a “Good Boy?” life-size in Kaybee. Damn… that makes me miss Kaybee. Oh well.

  24. jhamie Says:

mishi: Sbarro is the most decent AFFORDABLY priced Italian resto I can find here in Manila. :D

  25. E.J. Says:

Thanks! Will check those places for Spud Trooper.

  26. Prof. Umbridge Says:

  27. Obet Says:

Mish yelled: “Obet: you’re not supposed to watch 26 eps in a row XP Although I’ve done that before back then when I wasn’t working yet.”

I just can’t stand the intro’s and end credits. I want the story in 2 hours.

    manong:
there is a kenny rogers roasters in the u.s. it started here!!!!

  29. Obet Says:

I believe the Kenny Rogers is in the LA area. That’s it. There are more in other countries.

  30. balbonics Says:

Black is not a color. Black is not a color. Black is not…

KFX what do you mean by Phoebe Cates hated your guts? What did you do?

  31. Mishi Says:

rick: you might wanna try Xbox Connect - well, it had better gamers when I was still playing Halo1 back in the days. A lot of the pros play there.

Sleeping is also one of my hobbies XP

Obet: Did you like any of Hayao Miyazaki’s movies?

And.. yeah, I think my art teacher told me that Black is not a color… and neither is white?

  32. E.J. Says:

Black is the absence of color. White is the result of all colors being present.

  33. rick Says:

EJ: Isn’t it the other way around? You mix all your paint colors together you get black.

  34. balbonics Says:

No, you get muddy brown. Yum.

  35. rick Says:

    are you thinking chocolate? mmm…chocolate.

  36. E.J. Says:

Rick, maybe with paint, but what about with light? You see white light when all colors in the spectrum are present (i.e. your computer monitor). Darkness (black) is when there’s none.

Looks like we’re getting into physics here…

  37. balbonics Says:

Dark chocolate is my favorite color. Yummm.

  38. Obet Says:

I tried to watch Hayao Miyazaki’s movies but they are too childish. Castle in the Sky! (insert vomit sound here).

I like my anime with filled with violence and the occasional sex scene.

    If there’s a crayon of it, it’s a color.

  39. Mishi Says:

Obet: Miyazaki’s movies are like eye-candy to me XP Beautiful visuals and weird, magical stories.

Did you like the sequel to Ghost in the Shell? How about Perfect Blue?

“If there’s a crayon of it, it’s a color” - because adults are too lazy or incapable of explaining to a child who asks the question “why?” when you tell them that black or white is not a color.

  40. Kid Flash X Says:

I like saying Miyazaki’s name with an American accent.

  41. rick Says:

E.J.: Hmmm…you’re right. I guess it depends on the media you’re using but as Balbonics pointed out you don’t actually get black mixing all the paint colors, you only get dark brown.

Mishi: You know a friend lent me the “Studio Ghibli” collection. I loved it, a bunch of Miyazaki’s films was on it. I agree with Obet that they are kind of childish but that didn’t really bother me I get enough of the action stuff as well. I just got Netflix and I’ve loaded up on the anime and sci-fi, with the occasional kung fu flic to break it up.

KFX: I can’t imagine it, can you say his name with an American accent on the next podcast?

  42. rick Says:

Speaking of crayons, do you guys remember when Crayola made a crayon called “Flesh”?

It’s now called “Peach”, they changed it in 1962 but they still had the “Flesh” versions floating around in the PI in the late 70’s. I remember using it in my coloring book.

  43. pedestrianne Says:

Owen Kline is actually a movie star himself he stars in this little film called “The Squid and the Whale” pretty good I hear.

  44. JayDJ Says:

Obet, I think you’d might like the Anime, Urutsukudoji Series (6 parts). *wink*

My favorite cartoon (had a Japanese run too) is The Transformers. And alas, By July 4, 2007, Transformers The Movie is gonna be released, directed by none other than Stephen Speilberg. :)

    Hobbies ?
Well their kinda integrate to my job, photography, website developing.
I did collect stamps way back and I’m glad I saved my collection. They’re just right for the picking to put up on Ebay to cash it in. hehehehe!

I also have a weird habit of collecting pencils of all kinds, shapes, colors and sizes. It’s just a fascination I had for pencils way back when I was a kid. I have a box of over 500 pencils I bought from gift shops, bookstores, when on vacation etc… I don’t plan on using them. I just like the fact that it’s something affordable (translation: cheap) I can collect. hehehehe !

The hobby I gave up cause I don’t have anymore time is composing songs. I don’t write lyrics, I kinda suck at that skill. I do know how to whip up a melody from a poem or lyrics. But I haven’t been doing it for years now.

Oh yeah, lately, I do try to pass by the video arcade whenever I’m in the mall even if only for one game. I dig the car racing games (because I know how to drive as opposed to the other games with 6-8 buttons and a complicated combination of keys needed to be pressed or you’ll end up with a game over in less than a minute). The racing is a form of a stress reliever for me… but in reality, I either get rattled or hyper after racing head to head with an opponent.

I do like watching TV too as pasttime. My fave shows:
The Amazing Race, Seinfeld reruns and lately, Jerry Springer… (Jerry ! Jerry ! Jeric! Ooops… wrong person)

As for celebrity sightings, I don’t think I’d be qualified. My website allows me to get invited to celeb events where I usually get to rub elbows with them. I’ll just mention my fave celebs who are really nice and cool… Jennifer Lee (Viva Hot Babes), Luke Mejares, Gloc 9 (rapper), Brownman Revival, Janno Gibbs, Yasmien Kurdi (insert Manong Guard+KFX’s yihee! here) and Jay R.

  45. Mishi Says:

rick: I definitely remember the “flesh” crayon. I was still using it in High School in Pinas XP

JayDJ: You have the DVD boxset of Overfiend, huh? XP

  46. Obet Says:

Mish the lesbo wrote: Did you like the sequel to Ghost in the Shell? How about Perfect Blue?

GITS 2 was ok, I wanted to see more of Kusanagi. I actually watched 4-5 DVD’s of the TV series. They were ok but I liked the intro. I saw Perfect Blue, pretty good. Isn’t there a live version? I did like Wicked City where the chick’s snatch turned in to a venus fly trap.

Maybe I’ll try Urotsukidoji, 3 DVD’s is kinda too long though. I’m watching Sword of Doom 2nyt.

KFX, install a quote plugin pls. Rustom will give you a gift.

  47. Mishi Says:

Obet the “happy” guy wrote: GITS 2 was ok, I wanted to see more of Kusanagi. I actually watched 4-5 DVD’s of the TV series. They were ok but I liked the intro. I saw Perfect Blue, pretty good. Eh, thought it was all eye-candy and a bit too pretentious XP Is there a live version of Perfect Blue? I have no idea. In Japanese? I hope not American remade.

  48. Sherwy Says:

Yeah there was a live action version. I thought you would have seen the trailer the same time I did. It had some girl jumping off the roof. Heard it wasn’t that great tho. No where close to the impact given in the same anime version. Probably the same result after watching the Devilman live action.. you’re like, “huh?” :p Some scenes/special effects were pretty cool tho.
