Kinda ironic that “back in the day”, people HATED having ads on their free websites from Tripod, Geocities, etc. and now that ad-free web hosting is more affordable, the same people actually PLACE the ads on their websites themselves!

Then again, getting a check for $200 from Yahoo! was unheard of back then.

  2. E.J. Says:

Come on, ManongGuard. Quit moping around. Get over the Saudi Boys episode… Don’t be sad. He he. Don’t compare your life with KFX’s. You’re a rock star and he’s a computer fix-it geek (kinda like me).

Regardless of the topics, listening to the latest episode (whether you two soar high on the ratings or go down in flames, haha) is now one of the highlights of my week.

Things have started to pick up for me, too. Either that or I am just digging myself deeper into this hole I’m in and haven’t noticed. Ha!

Maybe MG just misses DRE. Yiheee! (Joke lang, Mox.)

  3. balbonics Says:

Kid, that’s a great idea, I think I want to fall in love, too!

  4. Mishi Says:

Nong, does Father Cuyos have a board or something.. I’ll post there, too haha! I only listened to the Star Wars episode as well. I would recommend Father Cuyos to those who are active Catholics.

Do you guys have plans on making a promo mp3 for other podcasts to use like Father Cuyos does?

  5. Diong Says:

I’ll walk to Manong Guard’s house and bug him often… :-)

  6. Obet Says:

Mish: You can leave comments for Cuyos on his site or on iTunes. Someone wrote “Cup his Bols” on his iTunes site. I think EJ did it.

  7. chel Says:

manong guard!!!! you! you! you! you made me cry!!!!!

but no joke, thanks for the ride, the junk food, and the peach rhumba….=p…

  8. E.J. Says:

    Ha ha, Obet!

  9. Manong Guard Says:

EJ leaves his mark on all the boards with the infamous “Cup his Bols” comment. Hehehe.

Father Cuyos has his market, obviously. And if I were a bit more spiritual I’d probably listen to him. It is sorta difficult seeing that while he has a command of the language naman, the Visayan accent is difficult for me. Again, Mox would love to listen to him I’m sure if she gives him a chance.

Chel is refering to our little get together last night. I met up with the Titik Pilipino chapter of the Live Gangsters (JayDJ, chel, and jhamie). Just reenvigorates my need to do an EB with all you Manila guys. Special Thanks to JayDJ for the wicked T-shirt. I’ll post a pic soon.

    Mishi,

Yes we have been planning to do a promo but two things are stopping us: Our lack of creativity and Our laziness. Watch out for a promo soon.

  10. E.J. Says:

Hey, I first heard it from you, MG. ;)

Is there gonna be an “infamous phrase” t-shirt, too? Now that’s a thought.

  11. Manong Guard Says:

well, obet seems to want one.

  12. jolo Says:

my comment was not intended as a term of anger MG, don’t take it too hard. Sorry, Don’t let anybody steer your own ship, it’s your show, be proud. ;D

  13. Manong Guard Says:

    Jolo,

S’all good and I appreciate it. There are just these contrived bouts of melodrama that I like going into sometimes. You’re right about the lack of the usual wit during the episode. Still, there are good days and then there are the rest of the days,

    Thanks,

    Jay

  14. Manong Guard Says:

Have you guys noticed how much KFX is talking now?

  15. gman Says:

    Hi MG and KFX,

No, I’m not from pinoyrickey. As a matter of fact, I hate anything that’s Pinoy showbiz. I only watch the news and game shows just because my 14 month old daughter likes wowowee and gknb. And sometimes, the buzz, just because I want to torture myself watching kris aquino. I can’t believe I’m coughing up $22 a month to watch 3 shows.

  16. Karl David Says:

with that pic, looks like MG is preparing for next years Mr. Pinoy Podcaster contest. :-p

  17. balbonics Says:

Mr. Pogi Podcaster kamo. M.G. = Manong Gwapo! Yihee!!!

    or Mukhang Guilty?

  18. Obet Says:

MG: You big pimp! You look like the Notorious B.I.G, Marsellus Wallace of Pulp Fiction, Frank Drillon, and Jay of South Border.

  19. Manong Guard Says:

Hahaha! Yeah I look like all those guys and then some. There is also a little of Homer Simpson, Viscera, and the King Pin in me.

  20. Obi Says:

Manong Guard! Thanks for the plug! We have a link of your podcast in our website. I finally had the chance to fix our link section a couple of weeks back. Quick note: We came up with those segments before I started listening to you guys. It was just straight coincidence that we kinda have similar segments. And the Recipe 911 is just about recipes. Thanks again for the plug and please keep listening.

  21. Manong Guard Says:

    Obi,

No problem dude. Anything to promote the collective Pinoy Podcast. About the similarity of some segments: Hey, we are all Filipinos and so share similar experiences with each other. I don’t think there is anything wrong with the two shows offering similar content to a certain extent. Apart from that I can honestly say that the markets are different. For one, I don’t think children should be allowed to listen to “Live” while your show has proven to be very informative and clean which are two things that are important in family-oriented shows in any medium.

So good luck with all your other pursuits and keep on working on improving your shows. We are a mere months ahead of most other pinoy podcasts but i can honestly say that I learn something new everytime I tape a show.

See you around! BTW, I have listened to both EP8 and EP7 or your show.

    Thanks,

    Jay

  22. Obi Says:

Thanks again Manong Guard. We mentioned you guys, you in particular, in a few earlier episodes. Can’t think of which one of the top of my head but I suggest listening from ep. 2 onwards. (Episode 1 just plain sucked). We talked about being an 80’s kid in episode 2 so its kinda like your new segment: “Live Flashback”.

BTW, ep. 9 is out and ep. 10 would be uploaded pretty soon. My wife Marie would like to do a “Hepa Contessa” with you at Antonio’s when we go back there to visit. We mentioned this in ep. 9.

    Thanks again for everything.

  23. Manong Guard Says:

As part of my role as the Philippines’ official podcast welcoming committee, I would be very happy to meet up with you guys and do a Hepa with Marie. Note that I probably do not have the culinary acument that she has (I did study under Sylvia Reynoso Gala - but that was a past life na).

Shoot me an email on your sched and we will definitely put something together!

    See you soon.

    Jay

  24. Eleanor Says:

    Looking good there Manong Guard.

  25. Manong Guard Says:

Thanks… still too fat right now.
